White Lion, Poland Street

Poland Street marks the edge of the street patterns of old Ancoats.  The White Lion stood at the top of Silk Street from the early 1800s, and was a Threlfalls house when it closed in 1938 [1].  This 1900s photo from the archives show a foundation stone being laid at the Poland Street Pipe Stores... and some top class facial hair.
