The Green Door Club was a favourite haunt of Mirror / People/ News of the World journalists and printers who worked the night shift at the Withy Grove newspaper offices. Like the better known Press Club, it would open all night for the grafters, but doesn't appear to have been members-only. It shut its doors at some point in the 1970s, maybe around the same time that the New Green Door Club opened round the corner on Dantzic Street. It was situated next to the gun shop at the bottom of Shudehill, now a jewellers.
