078. Dutton Hotel, Park Street

Dutton Hotel, Park Street. (c) Pubs of Manchester.

The Dutton, just off Cheetham Hill Road and behind the MEN Arena, is another old survivor, unknown to most. A Hydes house, there were two ales on, both Hydes obviously, and the usual array of Guinness, Strongbow and cooking lagers. It's a three-roomed pub, all with their own unique charm and a small smoking yard at the rear which is something of a sun trap when the sun's out. The pub is very much a drinkers house with a longstanding (and fairly old) clientele, but has benefifted in recent times from its proximity to the Arena and its music fans attending the events there, parking on the nearby streets and car parks and popping in for a couple before or after. The Dutton is a great little pub, search it out if in the area, it's just a couple of minutes from Victoria.
