Gallery, Peter Street

Gallery, Peter Street. (c) techno.de.

The Gallery used to be a basement bar and gig venue beneath where Bar 38 (still to do, unfortunately) is on Peter Street.

The Gallery, Peter Street, 1985. (c) Manchester District Music Archive.

There's plenty of photos of the inside at the Manchester District Music Archive, but none of the externals.  The Gallery was below the row of old buildings which once stood here... can't find any photos of the old row.

Former location of The Gallery, Peter Street. (c) googlemaps.

  2. Those times were great. I still listen to Deluxe, Smith & Mighty, Dazzle, Shokk and all those artists of the time.

  3. We held a scootering Trojan Ska disco night there in mid 80s after the old Berlin Club on King street west got a refurb and cancelled our regular events.

    1. REM played The Gallery on 25 April '84. The opening with a cover of The Velvet Underground's 'Pale Blue Eyes' and then started 'Moral Kiosk' only for the lights to blow out seconds later. Legendary concert.
