The Gallery, Peter Street, 1985. (c) Manchester District Music Archive. The Gallery used to be a basement bar and gig venue beneath where Bar 38 (still to do, unfortunately) is on Peter Street.
There's plenty of photos of the inside at the Manchester District Music Archive, but none of the externals. The Gallery was below the row of old buildings which once stood here... can't find any photos of the old row.
Anybody remember Dr. Feelgood playing there in mid 80s?
ReplyDeleteThose times were great. I still listen to Deluxe, Smith & Mighty, Dazzle, Shokk and all those artists of the time.
ReplyDeleteWkd time
DeleteWe held a scootering Trojan Ska disco night there in mid 80s after the old Berlin Club on King street west got a refurb and cancelled our regular events.
ReplyDeleteI went a few times watch Head flaming Dance play in the 80s does anyone remember them .
ReplyDeleteSaw REM there in 1984
ReplyDeleteREM played The Gallery on 25 April '84. The opening with a cover of The Velvet Underground's 'Pale Blue Eyes' and then started 'Moral Kiosk' only for the lights to blow out seconds later. Legendary concert.
