Rusholme Working Mens Social Club, Victory Street

Former location of Rusholme Working Mens Social Club, Victory Street. (c) googlemaps.

Unlike its neighbour, the Gardeners Arms, the Rusholme Working Mens Social Club hasn't survived the redevelopment of Victory Street (formerly Nelson Street) which also coincided with MCFC vacating the neighbourhood in 2003.  Shown in 1969, and 1973 with the Gardeners Arms along the street, and close-up in the same year, I'm not sure what it was like inside or whether it was much of a pre-match boozer.  In fact, I don't recall it being open during our rare forays down here to the Osborne.  A new build development has replaced the old club - the Gardeners can be seen jutting out just past the block.
