Morning Star, Rolleston Street

Morning Star, Rolleston Street, Miles Platting. (c) Neil Richardson [1].

The Morning Star was a Wilsons house on the corner of Clayton Street and Rolleston Street which today is roughly where Layton Street is marked on Google Maps in the new Miles Platting estate around Bradford Road.  It was nicknamed as Kelly's after Tommy Kelly the landlord and former Barnsley footballer, and lasted until 1959 [1].

1. The Old Pubs of Ancoats, Neil Richardson (1987).
