Sambrook House, Dover Street

Former location of Sambrook House (right), Dover Street, Chorlton-on-Medlock. (c) googlemaps.

Sambrook House was a little Boddingtons pub on Dover Street, seen here in the 1960s and here in 1970, the year it closed (apparently Beetles were popular motors in these parts).  This corner boozer was sited at the meeting of Dover Street and Hastings Street.  However, although Dover Street still passes between Oxford Road and Upper Brook Street today, Sambrook House stood on a lost stretch of the road which is now a grass verge before blocks of flats.
