The Minshull Arms Hotel is pictured here in 1959 on the corner of Downing Street and Rusholme Street on the approach into town towards Piccadilly. It stood here for over a hundred years, and is shown below on the 1848 map .

Rusholme Road, which once linked this end of Ardwick with Oxford Road, has been lost but Kay Street, just a few yards to the east, survives today as Kale Street.
