Minshull Arms, Downing Street

Minshull Arms, Downing Street. (c) Jonnyboy Smith at Facebook.

The Minshull Arms Hotel is pictured here in 1959 on the corner of Downing Street and Rusholme Street on the approach into town towards Piccadilly.  It stood here for over a hundred years, and is shown below on the 1848 map [1].

Rusholme Road, which once linked this end of Ardwick with Oxford Road, has been lost but Kay Street, just a few yards to the east, survives today as Kale Street.
