This was the public bar of the Midland Hotel, entered either from within the hotel or by an outside entrance on Mount Street. A loose canal connection was seen in the decor, with a few painted posts and teapots amongst the lounge style seats. The 1975 guide mentions poor service and pricey beer with a bad selection of national keg brands, Worthington, Double Diamond, Youngers Tartan and Carling . Its clientèle tended to be businessmen on expenses and couples.
