Crown & Thistle, Cathedral Yard

Crown & Thistle, Cathedral Yard. (c) Manchester Local Image Collection. Click here to view full image [1].

The Crown & Thistle Hotel faced the Cathedral, as in this photo from the 1900s.  Next door on the right is another hotel, the sign of which which cannot quite be deciphered ('Mainford Exchange Hotel'?) but is later seen as the Hope & Anchor.  From another angle in the 1900s is the Crown & Thistle's entrance with its Smoke Room & Bar sign, looking onwards towards the Hope & Anchor.
