The Crown in one was of the better pubs of Hulme, but this old Wilsons house was demolished in 1991. It had previously been a Manchester Brewery, Walker & Homfray and before it finished its time as a John Smiths house. Due to the change of the road layout here, it's difficult to envisage the Crown's exact location but using the redbrick flats as a reference it looks like it was on the right of what is now Jackson Crescent and previously, Great Jackson Street. These flats are actually 1950s builds which have survived two waves of Hulme regeneration, but are unfortunately not served by any pubs these days.
