Slip Inn, Butler Street

Slip Inn, Butler Street, Ancoats, 1912. (c) Neil Richardson [1].

Shown above exactly 100 years ago courtesy of the late Manchester pub historian, Neil Richardson, the Slip Inn stood on the corner of Canning Street and Butler Street in Ancoats.  It had been a grocer's shop before it was a Walkers beerhouse from 1865 to 1916 [1]. Canning Street was just off (Old) Mill Street and the end of Butler Street where the Slip Inn stood is still there today, near to where the Ancoats Youth Club stood until recently [2].
