Wheatsheaf, Deansgate

Ye Olde Wheatsheaf appears to have been on the corner of Deansgate and Camp Street, as seen in these photos from the 1970s and what must be the late '70s/early '80s (Stones... wince). On this corner, opposite the grand old Great Northern Warehouse, now the shopping and leisure complex, is the ugly, modern, red brick Alliance & Leicester building. What's wrong with town planners and architects these days?
