Hope & Anchor, Cathedral Yard

The Hope & Anchor was next door to the Crown & Thistle as pictured in the 1900s. It may have been previously known as the Mainford Exchange Hotel as a very faded sign in this earlier 1900s photo suggests. This one looks past the Crown & Thistle towards the Hope & Anchor.

  1. I think the very faded sign may read "Rainford" which is a village on the Kirkby to Manchester Victoria via Wigan railway line
