Three Tuns, Rochdale Road

Three Tuns, Rochdale Road, Collyhurst (c) Bob Potts [1].

The Three Tuns was at 568-570 Rochdale Road on the corner with Churnet Street, Collyhurst.  A Manchester Brewery then Threlfalls house, it closed in 1970 under a compulsory purchase order [1].  More than 40 years have passed but nothing has been built on this corner, while the western end of Churnet Street has been 'pedestrianised' for the benefit of the Thornton Street estate beyond.

  1. Is there a list of landlords in the 1950’s 60’s?

    1. My grandparents had this pub in the mid/late 60s. My father was born in 1953 and lived here at the age of 12/13.

Heard tonnes of scary stories about this pub, haunting in the concert room downstairs and the dance room upstairs. Ex landlord that hung himself in there after his daughter was found pregnant.
      Interesting stuff!
