The Swan closed in 1996 and was pulled down a year or two later and has made way for the Weaste tram stop on the Eccles line. Shown here as a Chesters then Whitbread branded house, its neighbour, the Grey Mare survived although has recently closed its doors and is tinned up [1].
Alan Winfield photographed the Swan in 1995 as a Vaux pub [2]. As shown below, the garage from which the 1972 photo was taken is long gone like the Swan.

Deletethats funny my dad ran the swan pub also we lived on thornfeild actually behind the pub its self had to be 1994 at the latest not i remember a lady taking it over and she had a grandaughter called jade boardmaan bot long after there was a fire in the pub

ReplyDelete@Jcalderwood2311 i remember ur mum an dad having the pub. Then a bloke called Dave an his wife. Then my dad ran it for a while an someone took over from him but it wasn't for long an then it closed. I lived over in humber st across the Rd. I never knew it was haunted. I was down in the celler, out in the kitchen, all upstairs on my own an never experienced anything. The swan was the best
ReplyDeleteMy Dad ran the pub in mid forties. I was born there an told I learnt to walk in the bar.
