Cheshire Cheese, Oswald Street

Cheshire Cheese, Oswald Street, Ancoats. (c) D.N. at ManMates Facebook [1].

The Cheshire Cheese was on Oswald Street, off Every Street in Ancoats, shown from various angles as a Chesters house in 19601964, 1970 and 1987.  During a 1992 visit, Alan Winfield recalls Chesters Mild and Coachmans Bitter being on offer in this old but pleasant boozer, pictured here [2].  This corner, looking down Every Street towards Holt Town and the gas cylinder beyond, has seen flats replace the Cheshire Cheese.
