Champion, Broadwalk

Champion, Broadwalk, Salford, 1990. (c) deltrems at flickr.

The Champion estate pub was built in 1970 for Greenhall Whitley next to the Unwin Street flats on the south side of Broadwalk on the Pendleton/Salford Precinct.  A traditional feature of many estate pubs was also  prominent - a huge dog on the roof.  The Champion didn't last that long though, closing in 1993 and being pulled down a year later for yet more redevelopment of this blighted part of Salford [1].
