Courts may have been the previous name for Champers Wine Bar, as in the 1989 CAMRA book, "Ale of Two Cities - Real Ale and Real Pubs in Manchester and Salford" it's listed selling Marstons Pedigree but was closed on Sundays [1]. It definitely wasn't Yates's or English Lounge (or Benson's, as it was in '89) as these are also listed. We suspect Courts was actually next door to Champers, i.e. next door to the right of where the Ruby Lounge is today in this ugly modern block.
