On the corner of Trevor Street and Ashton Old Road in Openshaw was the Albion, seen here in about 1970 as what looks like a Whitbread house. Most of the houses in the vicinity - Toxteth Street, Alpha Street, Stopford Street - have been cleared in recent years, and nothing stands on the corner where the Albion once did.

I waited on here, probably illegally (aged 17) in 1969. The landlord was John Sharrock or Sharrocks and his wife was called Norma. They later took a pub in Droylsden.
ReplyDeleteMy great grandparents used to run this pub many years ago. I visited with my mother who lived their with her grandparents some time in 30's . Their name was Lockett.
ReplyDeleteThere is a new built house here which we own now. I would love hear from people who had any connection with The Albion or The Albion as it used to be.
