Northumberland, Chester Road

Northumberland, Chester Road. (c) Alan Winfield at pubsgalore.

Seen in 1962 as a Wilsons Ales and Stouts house, the Northumberland was on this corner of Northumberland Street and Chester Road, with East Union Street on the other side.  The Northumberland was close to Pomona Docks and near enough to Old Trafford to be considered an old match day pub - the walk from town would have passed down this stretch of Chester Road before the Bridgewater Way bypass appeared.

  1. Does anyone have an image of this pub without the watermark? I want to get a printed copy for my grandmother who was the landlady there back in the day.

  2. You could try cropping it?
I managed to do it on my phone and it looked OK.
