Pepperhill, Woburn (Bedwell) Street

Continuing away from Maine Road, over Princess Road and into Moss Side centre, the Pepperhill is one of the more notorious pubs of Manchester, having been associated with the Moss Side gang warfare of the 1990s.  The pub gave its name to the Pepperhill Gang who allegedly used this Wilsons estate house to conduct their dealings.

After the pub was closed down by the police, and many of the streets and alleyways on the estate remodelled, it was renamed the Saltshaker and used as a community centre place.  These days it's an Islamic Centre on Woburn Street, rather than Bedwell Street.
