Packhorse, Market Street

Back in the days when Cross Street was nothing more than a covered passage leading off Market Street, the Packhorse stood on the right handside off the passage as you passed down Market Street towards Deansgate.  Described as of quaint appearance, the Packhorse was run by John Frost in the 1800s [1].  The pub was lost when Cross Street was made into a more substantial street some time before the middle of the 19th century.
