Concert Inn, Lower Mosley Street

Concert Inn, Lower Mosley Street. (c) ManchesterBeat.

The Concert Inn, shown here in 1964 and here in the '70s, was at the top end of Lower Mosley Street opposite the Midland Hotel. The pub had a slight facelift a few years after the above photo was taken. Compare this with this to see how close the Concert Inn was to The Albert, which is also evident here on the corner of East Street. The tall modern building behind the Concert Inn is Peter House, built in 1958 on the site of the old Princess Theatre which closed in 1940 [1]. On this part of Lower Mosley Street now stands a Premier Inn with its Costa Coffee and Table Table restaurant on the ground floor (which itself used to be Henry's Café Bar earlier).

  1. I believe that my maternal grandparents, James and Olive Ratcliffe kept this Pub in the years after the first world war. Is it possible to check this?
