Barley Mow, Turner Street

In this forgotten part of the Northern Quarter, around the corner from the mysterious Red Lion, the Barley Mow was on the corner of Turner Street and Union Street.  It's here in September 1975, though the only clue to its function as a pub is the small Watney's sign.  The building hasn't changed much; if anything the ground floor frontage has been changed for the worse, like the Red Lion, due to ill-advised paint jobs.  Another older photo from the Archive apparently shows the Barley Mow in 1892, with these ghostly chaps looking on, though which angle the shot is from is difficult to fathom.
