Ben Brierley, Moston Lane

Ben Brierley, Moston Lane, Moston, 1992. (c) Alan Winfield with permission.

The Ben Brierley is a landmark building in the centre of Moston on the corner of Kenyon Lane and Moston Lane.  Unfortunately its use is not now as a pub but as the Ben Brierley Legal Advice Resource Centre.

Named after the local writer and councilor, Benjamin Brierley, from Failsworth, the Ben Brierley closed in 2011.  It was a Bass house, as in 1992 when Alan Winfield visited, and retains its old signs on the building today.

Moston's pubs have fallen in number in recent years, not least Moston Lane's, with the Museum (seen in the background, below), Thatched House and Bricklayers Arms closing in recent years.

  1. Do you know which brewery the museum pub was owned by in 2001.
