Wheat Sheaf, City Road

The Wheat Sheaf Inn stood at No.199 City Road, straddling Bright Street and Walter Street.  It opened in 1861 [2], becoming a Cornbrook Brewery house and saw its century out, closing in 1967 [3] for Hulme redevelopments.  The Wheat Sheaf is shown here in 1958 with a couple of old dears in shot (not sure what the one on the left down Bright Street is doing though.  These days City Road ends as it reaches Chorlton Road; the Wheat Sheaf would have been just on the left here:
