Lime is one of the most recent places to shut, closing its doors in March 2010 after licensee failed to renegotiate terms with the landlords, according to Crains. It remains closed while the former tenants, Blue Streak Trading of Hertfordshire, negotiate with the registered lease holders, Marston's, and owner, some Salford company [1]. Lime was a pleasant enough bar with standard bar-grub on offer - albeit rather faceless, pricey and full of the Printworks type crowd at weekends - with a basic basement club that I got dragged to a few times in. Always felt it was a bit hidden away in the warren of streets in this central business district part of town, and it never got much day time trade. However, its dull sister bar at Salford Quays seems to do alright, picking up Old Trafford tourists, theatre goers and shoppers. Let's be honest, it's no real loss to most Mancunian drinkers, but it's always sad to see city centre pubs and bars close in these tough times.
