Cathedral Arches, Chapel Street

Cathedral Arches, Chapel Street. (c) Manchester2002.

Built in the arches of the old Exchange Station and Victoria Bus Station, the Cathedral Arches used to do real ales but maybe its rather hidden location, opposite the Cathedral at the top end of Deansgate, meant it wasn't a success.   It became Club Lash (a fetish club?), the plush Cocoa Rooms, and is now Bijou.

This place gives great views of the mysterious Victoria Arches / Cathedral Steps (which, if we're lucky, we might get a closer look at soon...).  A few images at the archive show them in the 1900s, 1938, 1940 and 1940.
