041. Waxy O'Connors, Printworks

We had to start on the Printworks sooner or later. As you'd expect it's a pretty grim faux Irish chain bar with steep prices to match. Described as a "unique pub with a labyrinth of 3 bars covering 4 levels and 9 separate areas that are linked together by a maze of staircases and passages" (see the impressive tour here). No ale on as you'd expect so Guinness and Caffreys (a mistake) had to be taken. It was absolutely rammed on a Thursday night, though I don't think all the bars were open.

The Printworks is actually a pleasant enough place to walk through, it's just when you get inside the bars and clubs, witness the fakeness close up and mingle with its patrons that you realise what a dreadful hole it really is. To be fair it attracts people from all over to Manchester which can't be a bad thing, but when there are so many decent pubs and clubs within five minutes of the Printworks, it hardly paints our fair city in a good light.
