Rain Bar is a modern JW Lees pub inside a former Victorian warehouse. It is so named as the building was also an umbrella factory before many years of dereliction. Rain Bar opened in 1999 and is a decent addition to this part of town which boasts some great boozers such as the Peveril of the Peak, The Temple, Knott Bar and Britons Protection.

The main part of the pub is the ground floor bar, decked out in wood and leather seating, whilst a second bar and function room on the first and second floor also have their own bars.

Cask Lees is a good pint these days and the Brewer's Dark mild is especially good and a better option than Guinness. At the rear is a huge terraced seating area leading down to the Rochdale Canal which is very pleasant in the summer, although an insistence on plastic pots lets it down in this respect.

It was fantastic with a great atmosphere and fantastic food. The staff were polite and helpful. An amazing experience.
