Nags Head, Hanover Street

Hanover Street runs off Shudehill to Victoria Station, just north of the new Shudehill Interchange bus station. There's little trace left of any older buildings on Hanover Street except immediately towards the Victoria end. All we know about the Nags Head, a Taylor's Eagle Ales house shown here in 1907, is that it was sited at the Shudehill end, as this 1897 photo shows improvements to Shudehill taking place at the rear of the pub. Its exact location next to an impressive iron mongers (much later to become the Smithfields / New Smithfields pub) is confirmed in this 1907 picture.
