Blue Boar Hotel, Blue Boar Court

The Blue Boar Hotel once stood where the western side Arndale Centre now sits, off Corporation Street.  As seen in this 1895 photo from the archives, looking through the passage way out onto Market Place, these courts off Market Street and Market Place were narrow and crammed full of shops, businesses and licenced premises.  The Blue Boar suffered WWII damage and was fully demolished for the Arndale Centre - a lost part of the historic city centre which more resembled York than the Manchester we know today.

  1. I’ve got a cutlery set with Blue boar Manchester stamped on the cutlery. Is it possible that they could have been from the original pub if they had a restaurant ??
