The Duke of York Hotel was a big freehouse on the corner of Old Church Street and Oldham Road in Newton Heath, as shown here in 1960 and twice in 1961. As can be seen in this photo from the 1970s, the Duke of York later had Wilsons and Tetley signage. The pub was owned by Watney Mann in 1971 [1], which had already swallowed up Wilsons in 1960, so it must have been a relatively rare Wilsons freehouse. These days an NHS clinic stands on the site of the old Duke of York.
