This low-budget but great video for Kalima's 1984 track "The Smiling Hour" on Factory Records (FAC 87) was released on the Factory Shorts VHS and more recently LTM's Umbrellas In The Sun DVD.
It features some great '80s footage of central Manchester and what appears to be a Manchester basement bar.
The starring couple - including Ann Quigley of Kalima - had originally met on Church Street with its fruit and veg markets.
After which the girl descends into a bar where a few lads (members of A Certain Ratio) are supping bottled Guinness and her fella is behind the bar.
Anyone recognise the place?
