Pier 6 was a large bar and restaurant opened by Bass Taverns on Clippers Quay, Salford Quays, during its first post-Manchester/Salford Docks regeneration in the 1980s and '90s.

Along with Banks's Old Pump House also on Clippers Quay, Pier 6 was a nice little pre-cinema and match day destination, easily accessed from the Manchester side of the Quays.

Before closure Pier 6 became the Waterside in the 1990s, but larger scale regeneration of the Quays saw its demolition and replacement by flats.

Enjoyed many a lunchtime in there while studying at Salford College

ReplyDeleteI worked there when it opened we were taught to Cocktail shake and preform by throwing glasses and pour drinks like in the film Cocktail. Often the cubes of ice smashed the glases and we had massive Brushes to just shovel it all away. We're were taught to do lots of tricks to keep customers entertained and threw tips in a huge bowl and ring the bell each time. The throwing of glasses came to an end when in 3 months we went through 6 thousand glasses...Happy days...Great atmosphere.
